2001 Accreditation by the German Council of Science and Humanities (Wissenschaftsrat)
2004 Accreditation of all Bachelor’s programs by the German Accreditation Council (ACQUIN)
2006 Announcement of Jacobs Foundation’s investment of €200 million, the largest donation in Europe ever made to a university (benefactor honored by name change at the beginning of 2007: “International University Bremen” becomes “Jacobs University Bremen”)
2008 Institutional reaccreditation by the German Council of Science and Humanities. Renewal of the reaccreditation is required only on request of the City of Bremen, as the university has permanently proven it's academic constitution.
2010 Renewal of the official recognition by the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen
2018 Renewal of the official recognition by the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen until 2027
