Universität Wien - An international University

The University of Vienna is the central and most important actor in the internationalisation of the tertiary sector in Austria. This is related to the size of the University, its spread of subjects, the attractive location and the active pursuit of the internationalisation strategy.

The University of Vienna aims at strengthening its position in interdisciplinary and internationally visible fields of research that are not only eligible for funding but also relevant to society in which it is rooted through the achievements of excellent academics. These cross-faculty research specialisations are attractive to job applicants. They develop dynamically and focus on current issues: cutting-edge research and teaching.

TU Wien - Technology for People

At TU Wien, we have been conducting research, teaching and learning under the motto 'Technology for people' for over 200 years. TU Wien has evolved into an open academic institution where discussions can happen, opinions can be voiced and arguments will be heard. Although everyone may have different individual philosophies and approaches to life, the staff, management personnel and students at TU Wien all promote open-mindedness and tolerance.

At TU Wien, the focus is on people. We are constantly striving to ensure family-friendly conditions at the university. This is underlined by the fact we have signed the ‘Family at university’ charter and joined ‘Companies for families’ as a network partner. We have therefore developed a diversity strategy, along with plans for promoting women and equal opportunities. In addition to balancing family and work/studies, we also believe that being able to study and work without barriers is of crucial importance.

The University of Vienna and the Vienna University of Technology jointly host and co-finance the FWF funded Vienna Doctoral Program on Complex Quantum Systems (CoQuS). A training center for more than 40 students who are selected from an international pool of applicants, based on their academic excellence, scientific success and ambition.

Research in CoQuS covers experimental and theoretical quantum physics
