The Institute of Photonics and Electronics of the Czech Academy of Sciences (ÚFE) is a public research institution, one of the research institutes of the Czech Academy of Sciences, the largest non-university research organization in the Czech Republic. ÚFE carries out fundamental and applied research in the scientific fields of photonics, optoelectronics, and electronics.

The Nano Optics group, headed by Marek Piliarik, is advancing the fundamental understanding of light-matter interactions at the nanoscale. Our focus areas include single-molecule label-free detection, interferometric scattering microscopy, ultrasensitive vibrational spectroscopy, and more. The group has a successful record of technology transfer and industrial collaborations, and participates in a range of cross-disciplinary collaborations, including a partnership with the Dresden International Graduate School for Interdisciplinary Life Sciences.
