CESNET, association of legal entities, was held in 1996 by all universities of the Czech Republic and the Czech Academy of Sciences. Its main goals are:
- operation and development of the Czech NREN
- research and development of advanced network technologies and applications
- broadening of the public knowledge about the advanced networking topics
CESNET is a long-time Czech academic network operator and participant of corresponding international projects. The most important international relationships of CESNET association are:
- DANTE shareholder
- TERENA member
- Internet2 international partner
- participant of the european GN2 project (and former GEANT, QUANTUM/TEN-155, TEN-34 projects)
- GLIF participant
