The Challenge

This requires a deep understanding of both healthcare and technology, and solid quantitative skills. This PhD position aims to develop methods to evaluate and optimize healthcare strategies by adopting a health systems engineering approach. We will first develop a quantitative method that determines how many working hours of various healthcare staff is required to treat or manage a disease. This will be done using a variety of data, including both patient data and business information data from healthcare organizations as well as national registries of demographics and healthcare expenditures. This method allows us to take into account the required healthcare staff in simulation models that evaluate and optimize the impact of technology on sustainability of the healthcare system, which will be the further focus of the research project. In this research project you will collaborate with various healthcare organizations and you will contribute to the sustainability of our healthcare system.
