About the job

The doctoral researcher will join the Research Council of Finland project "PastSense: Digital Twinning Methods for Illuminating Insights in Classical Archaeology". The project develops software engineering methods for interoperability frameworks and the automatic creation of digital twins, focusing on the use case of classical archaeology. These interdisciplinary software engineering methods enable the visualisation and reconstruction of different situations in the ancient past.

As a doctoral researcher, you will be part of a multidisciplinary research group consisting of computer scientists, software engineers, archaeologists, cultural anthropologists, and museum professionals. Your research focuses on applications of remote sensing and digital twinning, building practical artefacts and demonstrations, and conducting quantitative and qualitative evaluations of the built artefacts. The field of our research is in the intersection of computational archaeology, pervasive/ubiquitous computing, and software engineering.
