About us
The University of Luxembourg is an international research university with a distinctly multilingual and interdisciplinary character.
The Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT) at the University of Luxembourg is a leading international research and innovation centre in secure, reliable and trustworthy ICT systems and services.
We play an instrumental role in Europe by fueling innovation through research partnerships with industry, boosting R&D investments leading to economic growth, and attracting highly qualified talent. We look for researchers from diverse academic backgrounds to contribute to our projects in areas such as: Network Security, Information Assurance, Model-driven Security, Cloud Computing, Cryptography, Satellite Systems, Vehicular Networks, and ICT Services & Applications.
The successful candidate will join the Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and New Technology (EINT) research group, led by Prof. Christian Fisch. EINT conducts interdisciplinary research on entrepreneurship and innovation, with a particular focus on the areas of entrepreneurial finance (e.g., venture capital, business angels, crowdfunding), sustainable entrepreneurship (e.g., climate change, sustainability certifications, impact investing), and entrepreneurship and AI (e.g., AI adoption by entrepreneurs, AI as a method in entrepreneurship research). Across these areas, the group studies novel phenomena using large-scale data and quantitative methods. EINT aims to realize impact through publications in top journals, presentations at leading international conferences, and close collaboration with industry and policy partners.
Your role
The doctoral researcher will prepare a cumulative, paper-based doctoral thesis in entrepreneurship under the supervision of Prof. Christian Fisch, with the goal of publishing in leading international entrepreneurship and management journals.
The thesis topic is open within EINT's research areas. Other topics in entrepreneurship and innovation are also welcome if the applicant has a strong interest and a promising idea.
The thesis should be be quantitative and empirical, normally using large-scale datasets, statistical programming, and econometric methods. Other methods may be used as a complement where clearly justified, but this is not a primarily qualitative research position. Applicants should apply only if they can demonstrate strong quantitative preparation and relevant empirical research experience. A general interest in sustainability, finance, entrepreneurship, or AI without the required methodological background is not sufficient.
The successful candidate will join a team of doctoral and postdoctoral researchers and benefit from EINT's ongoing projects, methodological expertise, and data infrastructure while taking substantial responsibility for developing and executing their own research.
The doctoral researcher's key responsibilities include:
Your profile
