A Postdoctoral Researcher/Project Researcher, Modern Management

A Postdoctoral Researcher or Project Researcher position is open for applications at the University of Eastern Finland. The position will be hosted by the UEF Business School at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Business Studies, more specifically by the specialisation of Modern Management. The Business School of the University of Eastern Finland operates on both the Kuopio and Joensuu campuses. The position is located in Joensuu. Role and salary 

The position is research-oriented and will be filled at the UEF Business School of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Business Studies. The Business School on the Joensuu campus has a high profile as a centre for co-operative education and research. The Researcher will work as part of the Modern Management team and research group.

The position falls within the field of management and organizational sciences. Thematically, the Researcher will focus on co-operative organization and management studies. The job description also includes the planning of new co-operative research projects and the writing of grant applications for major national and international funders. 

The duties of the Researcher include:

• conducting co-operative management, governance and purpose related research; publishing activities; planning new co-operative research projects and writing funding applications; cooperating with the team on other related topics
• contributing to joint publications within the modern management research group
• supervising co-operative related Master’s theses and doctoral dissertations
• assisting in teaching activities.

The Postdoctoral Researcher/Project Researcher position will be filled for a two-year term starting on 1 September 2025, or as agreed. The position is filled for a fixed term due to it pertaining to the organisation and the building of the future of the research field. A probationary period is applied to new members of the staff.

The salary of the post is based on the salary system for the teaching and research staff of Finnish universities. The salary consists of a job-related salary element and a personal salary element. The job-related salary element is based on level 5 of the job requirement level chart and the personal salary element is 6–50% of the job-related salary element. Depending on the personal salary element, the salary at the beginning of the employment is approximately EUR 3,530 – 4,020 /month.

Our minimum requirements 

• a background in business studies/management or a similar field
• a doctoral degree in an applicable field by the time the employment begins. If the doctoral degree was awarded less than five years ago, the post will be one of a Postdoctoral Researcher. If the doctoral degree was awarded more than five years ago, the post will be one of a Project Researcher. In this context, five years refer to a net period of time, which does not include parental leaves or military service.
• peer-reviewed scientific publications in the field
• ability to teach and conduct research in English and
• an affinity for social scientific / empirical business studies research methods.

• be interested in developing their skills in conducting research.

• expertise in co-operative organization and management related topics
• experience in conducting and publishing scientific research
• experience in applying for research funding and managing such projects
• experience in teaching and supervision

Haemme osuustoimintaan kytkeytyviin teemoihin keskittyvää tutkijatohtoria/projektitutkijaa kauppatieteiden laitoksen Moderni johtaminen tiimiin Joensuun kampukselle. Tehtävä sijoittuu yhteiskuntatieteiden ja kauppatieteiden tiedekuntaan ja täytetään 2–vuoden määräajaksi 1.9.2025 alkaen tai sopimuksen mukaan. Tässä tehtävässä tehtäväkohtainen palkanosa on vaativuustasoluokittelussa tasolla 5. Lisäksi maksetaan henkilökohtaiseen suoriutumiseen perustuvaa palkanosaa, joka on 6–50 % tehtäväkohtaisesta palkanosasta. Henkilökohtaisesta palkanosasta riippuen palkka työsuhteen alkaessa on noin  3530 – 4020 €/kk.
