Postdoc – Evolutionary genetics (f/m/x)

The „Ecological Plant Genomics„ group at the Institute for Plant Sciences and the Cluster of Excellence on Plant Sciences (CEPLAS) studies the evolution and adaptation of plants. TRR 341 is an new Collaborative Research Centre funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) at the Universities of Cologne, Düsseldorf, Bochum and Marburg as well as the Max Planck Institute for Plant Breeding Research. In a joint and interdisciplinary approach, we are investigating the genetic underpinnings of plant responses and adaptation to global environmental change.

YOUR TASKS

  • Study genomic changes in response to environmental change
  • Understand polygenic adaptation and trait syndrome evolution through quantitative genetic analysis and simulations
  • Support genome-wide association studies of project partners
  • Participate in the development of projects and contribute ideas
  • Write and publish scientific articles and present results at conferences
  • Participate in group and project meetings and discussions

YOUR PROFILE

  • Doctoral degree in relevant field (e.g., quantitative genetics, evolutionary genetics, physics, mathematics or plant breeding)
  • Background in evolutionary biology, genomics or equivalent
  • Interest in evolutionary questions and plant research
  • Experience with genomic data analysis and large datasets
  • Good computational skills (e.g. Bash, R, Python)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English

The position is available immediately on a full-time basis (39,83 hours per week). The contracts are to be filled for a fixed term of 2 years. If the applicant meets the relevant wage requirements and personal qualifications, the salary is based on remuneration group 13 TV-L of the pay scale for the German public sector.
