Your Responsibilities

  • Possibility to work on a habilitation project
  • Independent research and publication activities (in international academic journals)
  • Collaboration in research projects in German Medieval Studies, especially within the core research area of the Faculty of Humanities “Trans-Mediterranean Entanglements”
  • Supporting the medieval studies section at the Department of German Studies with third-party funding applications and ongoing projects
  • Collaboration with national and international partners
  • Co-organization of conferences and workshops
  • Independent teaching of courses in German Medieval Studies and conducting examinations
  • Providing academic guidance and support to students
  • Collaboration in organisational and administrative tasks as well as in evaluation measures of the department

Your Profile

  • Completed doctorate, or PhD, in German Medieval Studies or an equivalent academic qualification relevant to the position
  • Research focus on the literature of the High and Late Middle Ages/Early Modern Period, particularly regarding medieval reception of antiquity and/or modern reception of the Middle Ages (desirable)
  • Experience in applying for and managing third-party funded projects
  • Academic curiosity and experience in the field of interdisciplinary research
  • Several years of university teaching experience (including online teaching) and proven didactic skills
  • Experience in academic self-administration
  • Excellent knowledge of Latin
  • Very good command of English
  • Social competence, especially ability to work in a team
  • Communication and organizational skills
  • High level of scientific motivation and goal orientation
  • Reliability and ability to work independently

We offer an annual gross salary of at least € 70.200,20 for a fulltime position. An overpayment based on qualification and experience is possible.
