Initially the successful candidate starts as an Assistant Professor with a qualification agreement for a fixed term tenure phase of six years. After successful completion of the qualification goals, the position will be converted into a permanent Associate Professor position.
The professorship will enable the Faculty of Law to strengthen its expertise and international visibility in the field of public international law, with the expectation that it will actively contribute to shaping the international legal framework for environmental protection and sustainability. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and researching the doctrine of public international law with a particular focus on its environmental and sustainability dimensions. Other relevant fields of law and disciplines should also be taken into account and international cooperation encouraged.
In addition, active participation in national and international research networks is required. The professorship is further responsible for attracting third-party funds for national and international research projects, as well as for contributing to the field of excellence “Climate Change Graz” and to core university and faculty research areas. The successful candidate is also expected to collaborate in the Faculty’s doctoral programmes, in particular the doctoral programme in “Public Law, Political Science, Comparative Law and European Law”.
The successful candidate will be highly motivated, aiming for academic excellence and integrity in research and teaching. He/she will have demonstrated ability to collaborate constructively in a responsible manner and inspire colleagues and students in an interdisciplinary, internationally oriented context.
