About the Unit
The NuMeRI NII PET-CT Unit hosted by the Central Analytical Facilities (CAF) of Stellenbosch University (SU) at Tygerberg Hospital (TBH) in Cape Town, South Africa, undertakes clinical and research imaging across oncology, cardiology, neurology, pulmonology, and infectious diseases. A broad range of radiopharmaceuticals is used, many of them labelled on site in the Unit's own radiopharmacy. As an EARL-accredited PET-CT Centre of Excellence, the Unit produces harmonised, trial-grade quantitative imaging and supports national and international research collaborations.
The NII has a close working relationship with both TBH and with SU’s Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FMHS), through its Divisions of Nuclear Medicine and Radiodiagnosis.
The aim of CAF (including the NII) is to ensure optimal utilisation of expensive multi-user research equipment in the service of the research community. NII operations can be divided into three categories:

This unique position combines research image analysis, clinical reporting, and academic collaboration in a state-of-the-art PET-CT and radiopharmacy research facility. The incumbent will play a pivotal role in advancing medical imaging research while contributing to clinical service delivery.
