Call for Assistant or Associate Professor Position - Research in Dentistry and Related Interdisciplinary Sciences

SCHOOL OF DENTISTRY

Through this announcement, the School of Dentistry at the Faculty of Medicine is opening a national and international call for a full-time, tenure-track position as Assistant Professor or Associate Professor.

We are seeking candidates with a doctoral degree who demonstrate strong leadership and a robust track record in high-quality, competitive research, as evidenced by high-impact publications in Web of Science (WoS) journals. Candidates should possess substantial experience in attracting competitive extramural research funding to develop a productive line of research focused on topics of interest within dentistry, cranio-maxillofacial biomedicine, public health, epidemiology, data science, artificial intelligence, or other related areas. Additionally, we expect candidates to contribute to high-quality teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and to support the academic management of the School of Dentistry. Candidates should actively engage with other academic and research units at UC Chile to foster collaborations relevant to their areas of expertise. This may include partnerships with the Faculty of Medicine and its various schools (Medicine, Nursing, Health Sciences, Public Health, and associated Institutes), the Faculty of Biological Sciences, and others.

RESPONSIBILITIES ASSOCIATED WITH THE POSITION:

1. Conduct independent research in dentistry or related interdisciplinary sciences with international significance and high scientific impact. While prior research experience in dentistry is not required, applicants must demonstrate the potential for successful contributions in this field in the future.
2. Deliver high-quality teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. 
3. Secure competitive external funding to support your research. 
4. Engage in academic and administrative activities within the School and University. 

REQUIREMENTS AND DOCUMENTATION TO APPLY: 

1. An academic degree relevant to high-quality research and teaching in dentistry.
2. Possess a Doctor of Science (PhD) degree or a comparable academic qualification. 
3. Submit a CV that includes details of completed studies, professional and academic experience, a list of publications (Web of Science), conference presentations, research and teaching experience related to dentistry, and any awards and distinctions. Additionally, include contact information for at least two academic references. 
4. Letter of intent describing a maximum of 2 pages: 1) How can your research line be articulated with other lines already existing at the School of Dentistry and/or UC Chile. 2) Potential contributions of the applicant in teaching at UC dentistry.

1. Academic career, leadership, and quality of scientific production.
2. Experience in the research area that you propose to develop in the School of Dentistry
3. Academic references.
4. Potential for integration into the academic activities of the School of Dentistry.
5. Experience in university teaching.
6. With equal backgrounds, priority will be given to women and ethnic minorities
