About IST&I : 

The Institute of Science, Technology & Innovation (IST&I) of Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) in Ben Guerir is dedicated to high level of education, research & innovation in science and engineering. Research & development within IST&I are centred on addressing the major challenges of the phosphate industry in Morocco and Africa, including food security, climate change and resource sustainability. In response to these challenges, IST&I in collaboration with national & international partners aims to develop innovative technologies to improve the fertilizers performance to adapt to the climate changes, the valorization of byproducts to create potential economic value and the implementation of circular economy through resources sustainability and byproducts valorization.

The Institute of Science, Technology & Innovation (IST&I) at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) invites applications for multiple PostDoc positions to undertake research in the area of expertise related to :

  • Organic chemistry
  • Polymer Science
  • Hydrometallurgy
  • Minerals engineering
  • Environmental Science

Job Description :

Design of new polymer-based materials and functionalized resins 

This project will focus on the formulation and synthesis of advanced synthetic polymers with optimized architectures and tailored functionalities for industrial applications, such as wastewater treatment, fertilizer coating, and other high-value applications. The project will also involve the synthesis and functionalisation of ion-exchange polymeric resins for the selective extraction and recovery of metal ions.

Position Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in Polymer Science, Organic Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the synthesis, characterization, and functionalization of polymers, 
  • Experience in the design and development of functional materials for applications such as adsorption, water treatment, coatings, or ion-exchange technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of polymer characterization techniques (e.g., FTIR, NMR, SEC, TGA, DSC, SEM, XRD, BET, UV–Vis, ICP-OES/MS, or related analytical methods).
  • Experience with ion-exchange polymeric resin synthesis, green chemistry, or circular economy approaches is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of adsorption processes, wastewater treatment, hydrometallurgy, or metal recovery is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research while effectively collaborating within multidisciplinary and international research teams.
  • Excellent scientific writing and communication skills, with a strong publication record in peer-reviewed international journals.
  • Experience in supervising graduate students and contributing to research proposal development is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English is required. Knowledge of French is considered an asset.
  • Strong organizational skills, initiative, and a commitment to innovation, scientific excellence, and technology transfer.

Criteria of the candidate:

  • PhD in the subject discipline with a relevant experience as postdoctoral researcher.
  • Prove ability to perform multidisciplinary research and contribute to funded research programs.
  • Good English communication skills, both verbal and written are important.
