Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) is an internationally oriented institution of higher learning, that is committed to an educational system based on the highest standards of teaching and research in fields related to the sustainable economic development of Morocco and Africa. UM6P is an institution oriented towards applied research and innovation. On a specific focus on Africa, UM6P aims to position these fields as the forefront and become a university of international standing.   

The UM6P College of Computing, a central component of UM6P, seeks to set up an unprecedented research-education program, of international level, on all aspects of computing.  

Job Description: 

The College of Computing (cc.um6p.ma) at the University of Mohammed VI Polytechnic in Benguerir, Morocco, seeks candidates in the field of Bioinformatics/Computational Biology.

Successful applicants will have the join a research program in bioinformatics and have the opportunity to develop their own research track withing the Bioinformatics laboratory (bioinformatics.um6p.ma), collaborate with investigators across health and agriculture sciences, teach courses, and mentor students. Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in bioinformatics, computer science, or related fields. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in one or more of the following research areas:

  • Computational Genomics and or metagenomics
  • Integration of OMICs data
  • Plant bioinformatics
  • Medical bioinformatics
  • Drug discovery

Candidates must submit a cover letter, detailed CV, brief research and teaching statements. Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in bioinformatics, computer science, or related fields
  • Minimum of 2 years' postdoctoral research experience in bioinformatics or equivalent
  • Track record of high-quality publications in ranked journals.
