ACME - Open rank faculty position / Scientific & Research Lead

Location: UM6P campus, Nouaceur

Report to: Technical Manager / General manager 

Entity: Africa Center of Manufacturing Excellence (ACME) is a Technology development platform focused on Advanced Manufacturing, Industry 4.0 and automation and tooling

Mission: The Professor (rank to be determined according to the candidate’s profile) / Scientific & Research lead will oversee the development of real-world solutions for industry partners through applied research and knowledge transfer projects identified by the board of the center.  Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

• Build strong vibrant team in the focused areas of R&D of the center
• Collaborate on the overall intellectual direction of the research-related activity or partnership 
• Support application for external funding and project proposal development
• Use technical expertise and knowledge of Design and manufacturing to develop concepts, design, manufacture, integrate and test prototyped solutions
• Provide deep subject matter and technical expertise for applied research projects
• Provide practical and industrial solutions for applied research projects
• Ensure execution of applied research projects in collaboration with college faculty, staff and industry partners
• Attend meetings and presents project scopes, deliverables and metrics
• Participate in the technical evaluation of manufacturing equipment and provide recommendations for purchasing new machinery
• Prepares and implements action plans to launch and manage projects and assist Research Assistants in the preparation of materials and final reports
• Assist in the follow-up activities with industry clients or founders
• Present findings at internal and external events, including conferences and seminars
• Identify human resource needs and participate in the hiring process 
• Supervise Student Researchers and Research Engineers 
• Contribute the preparation and review of Standards Operating Procedures for the activities of the center
• Ensure the safety of the employees of the center
• Successfully completed a Master of Science in Mechanical, electromechanical or electrical engineering or a related field.
• PhD in relevant engineering fields or scientific areas related the stated activities of the center
• A minimum of 5 years' experience working in an advanced manufacturing or applied-research environment with significant industrial research experience
• Demonstrable experience in developing and delivering R&D projects in the following areas is highly recommended:
  • Additive Manufacturing
  • Robotics
  • Design & prototyping
  • Materials & manufacturing
  • Advanced automatization
  • Industry 4.0
• Demonstrable team leadership experience
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

QUALIFICATIONS :

• Strong written and verbal communication skills in english & french.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with a variety of partners.
