The Magnus Tobiasson team is part of the Centre for hematology and regenerative medicine (HERM), a leading research unit in translational studies in hematology. At HERM, we offer an engaging research environment where you may contribute to high quality research at international level. In the Tobiasson team we strive to increase the knowledge of the blood cancer myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) from a clinical and biological perspective. A specific focus for our research is how to implement measurable residual disease measurement to guide treatment after allogeneic stem cell transplantation (Tobiasson et al, JCO 2024).

Your mission

We are looking for a research assistant who will be working together with PhD students, postdocs and research nurses to investigate what mechanisms contribute to relapse of MDS and what mechanisms contribute the effect of relapse treatment. A full-time position is available for 12 months. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to strengthen her/his current experimental skills as well as learn new cutting-edge techniques. A primary task for the position will be to generate and analyze single-cell data to study immune and hematopoietic stem cells. The successful candidate will be involved in other wet lab tasks, such as Ficoll separation and flow cytometry stainings. We are looking for a highly motivated and well-organized person with excellent communication skills and ability to interact with collaborators.

Key Responsibilities:
Bioinformatic analyses of single-cell data Isolation and storage/biobanking of cells from fresh human blood and bone marrow, cell culturing, basic flow cytometry and other analytical techniques.  

Your profile

Requirements:
Master’s degree in Medical Science, Immunology or equivalent when the position starts Basic skills in R programming and bioinformatics Experience in cell isolation from human blood or tissues, culturing of primary cells, DNA/RNA isolation,and data analysis. Capacity to fluently speak and write in English. Excellent interpersonal skills and references from previous work environments.

Meritorious:
Experience in working with immune cells, particularly T cells Previous experience with multiparametric flow cytometry/cell sorting. Excellent organizational skills Previous contribution to scientific publications
