Description of the research activity:

The research activity carried out by the candidate will be aimed at the microbiological study of the microbiota and microbiome associated with irrigation water in Alto Adige and the tissues of apple plants (rhizosphere and fruits) irrigated with such water, with the aim of describing the taxonomic and functional diversity of the microbial communities, with particular reference to genes for resistance to heavy metals and antibiotics, as well as establishing their potential transmissibility. The research activity includes both methodologies for the isolation of strains with chromosomal and plasmid sequencing and annotation. The candidate will have to identify, characterize and quantify the resistance genes of the isolated strains, and correlate the data with environmental, hydrochemical and agronomic parameters. The candidate will also have the task of managing the entire experimental setup, including the cultivation and irrigation of the apple plants for the entire time necessary for the experiment.
