Applications are invited for an Assistant Professor in Neuroscience, within the division of Physiology, Pharmacology and Neuroscience (PPN), School of Life Sciences, University of Nottingham.

The School of Life Sciences research portfolio spans a broad range of biological and biomedical research programmes, including long-standing international strength in integrated Physiology, Pharmacology and Neuroscience. We are looking for applicants with a clear vision and ambition to achieve innovation and excellence in Neuroscience research, which may integrate with or complement our current strengths, but is clearly aligned with identified major funding opportunities. We have a strong collaborative ethos and applications from enthusiastic and motivated individuals keen to embrace local expertise in areas including RNA biology, molecular imaging, opto/chemogenetics, neuropharmacology, neurophysiology, model invertebrate systems, to pre-clinical in vivo models of disease, in order to advance their research ambitions, are encouraged.

This is a combined research and teaching position, and we require staff to deliver allied, research-led teaching within the undergraduate neuroscience and neuropharmacology curriculum. Our vibrant Neuroscience and Neuropharmacology community has at its heart undergraduate degree programmes at BSc (Hons) and MSci (Hons) levels. The appointee will extend a consistently excellent standard of teaching in these degree programmes and: support student learning that is underpinned by scholarship; contribute to curriculum development, quality assurance and enhancement; undertake continuing professional development; and work in partnership with staff and students to maintain the highest standards in all areas of their work.

You will have a growing national reputation and the potential to make a significant impact on research and teaching.

This is a permanent, full-time position (36.25 hours). However, we are open to discuss flexible working arrangements, and job share arrangements may also be considered.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to Gareth Hathway, email gareth.hathway@nottingham.ac.uk. Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
