European project on resilience and vulnerability to environmental challenges in mental health

The Jeanneteau lab (https://jeanneteau-lab.cnrs.fr/) is looking for postdoctoral fellows. We study the adaptative mechanisms of neural circuits involved in the vulnerability to depression and resistance to treatment. The EraNet Neuron JT3 funded research program CLEVER (https://www.neuron-eranet.eu/projects/CLEVER/) will lay the foundation for exploring metabolic individuality in brain disorders. A definition of human metabolic individuality associated with personalized disease traits will help diagnosis and treatment. Risk to neurological conditions can be linked to metabolic endpoints. Can the treatment of such metabolic endpoints alleviate these conditions? Is there a link between genetic risks factors to depression and metabolic endpoints? The project will define trait-specific metabotypes and approaches for therapeutic targeting. It will demonstrate where the fields of genomics and metabolomics meet with potential benefits for diagnosis.

Your tasks:

  • Design and lead research projects to elucidate neuronal networks involved in vulnerability to stress and resistance to treatment in an animal model
  • Collaborate with European partners to analyze the metabolome and epigenome of the animal model compared to human subjects
  • Organize and troubleshoot your work independently
  • Communicate results and experiences with the team in a transparent and professional manner
  • Advise and mentor undergraduate, graduate, and PhD students

Your profile:

  • A Ph.D. in neuroscience or a related field and experience with behavior and OMIC are required
  • Strong interest in epigenomic and metabolomic research for depression
  • Highly intrinsically motivated, creative, dedicated, and critical thinker
  • Ability to clearly communicate research results to other lab members and scientists
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Team player who can work independently in an international team
  • Proactive, flexible, and problem-solving attitude

What we offer:

  • A multifaceted academic position in a stimulating research environment, with multiple opportunities to broaden your expertise and where quality, professionalism and team spirit are encouraged.
  • A full-time contract of up to 5 years on the recently awarded Eranet Neuron JT3 CLEVER project
  • The earliest possible start date is by the 2nd semester of 2024
  • Salary will be in line with the INSERM salary scale for postdoctoral researchers
  • Opportunity of work rotation in the partners labs (Italy, Germany, Poland)

How to Apply: Please send CV, letter of intent, names, and addresses of references to Dr. Freddy Jeanneteau E-mail: freddy.jeanneteau@igf.cnrs.fr
