The University of Cologne is one of the oldest and largest universities in Germany. YOUR TASKS

The professorship will contribute to research and academic teaching at the Department of Rehabilitation and Special Education, especially within the Special Needs Education Specialization Language. This includes teaching in the study programmes: ‘Special Education’ (B. A., M. Ed.), and ‘Speech Language Pathology’ (B. A.). The faculty expects the candidate to engage in academic self-governance. The research interests shall focus on the development of evidence-based intervention and didactic approaches within the field of language, speech, voice and communication disorders in special needs education and inclusive settings. The training of teachers for special needs schools and speech language pathologists requires interdisciplinary cooperation within and outside of the UoC.

YOUR PROFILE

We expect the successful candidate to have an academic qualification in special needs education, rehabilitation sciences, speech language pathology or related fields. We are seeking an academic with a strong research record with demonstrated expertise in the fields of didactics/ education/therapy, didactics/teaching and counselling for persons with language and communication impairments. Moreover, the successful candidate contributes to the inclusion-oriented research and teaching profile of the Faculty of Human Sciences. We expect the candidate to involve in joint research activities at the Faculty of Human Sciences and events at the Department of Rehabilitation and Special Education. Moreover, the successful acquisition and implementation of third-party-funded projects is expected.

The position is available at the earliest possible date. Formal requirements are detailed in Section 36 of the Higher Education Act of North Rhine-Westphalia (Hochschulgesetz – HG NRW). As a rule, the teaching load comprises nine semester hours per week (i.e., two hours per week is one 90-minute course per semester).
