The Department of Biomedicine is a joint effort between the University of Basel and the University Hospitals Basel. It unites basic and clinical scientists to advance our understanding of health and disease and to develop pioneering therapies benefiting the lives of patients in areas of unmet need.

Key research activities at the DBM are aimed at developing and clinically implementing innovative cell therapy programs at the USB. Within this scope, a number of immune cell derived advanced therapy medicinal products (ATMPs) such as TILs; CAR-Ts or allogenic NKs are manufactured on-site in a fully GMP-compliant environment provided by the DBM.

To join our GMP manufacturing team we seek a highly motivated
Operator GMP for Cell therapy products (level of employment: 80-100%)
Responsible for supporting the manufacturing and quality control of cutting-edge cell therapies applied in phase I/II clinical trials. The role requires hands-on work in a cleanroom environment.
• Manufacturing of cell-based (primary human immune cells) medicinal products in a GMP facility
• Development of assays (viability, potency, identity, purity) for cell-based medicinal products
• Validation of new procedures and qualification of new equipment for GMP use
• Sample preparation for translational research
• Following GMP-compliant documentation, including the accurate completion of production logs, batch records, deviation reports and more
• Material management for GMP manufacturing campaigns
• Performing environmental monitoring of the cleanroom
• Experience in cell culture of mammalian cells (preferably primary human immune cells) and standard analytical methods required in immunology and cell culture
• High reliability, flexibility and problem-solving attitude and ability to work independently
• Excellent team skills
• University degree in science (biological background) or completed apprenticeship
• Experience in the manufacturing of ATMPs according to GMP regulations
• The motivation to work in a cleanroom environment
• Knowledge in GMP-compliant documentation
• Excellent knowledge of German and English (written and spoken)
• Participation in a broad spectrum of projects and tasks translating research into the manufacture of GMP-compliant medicinal products to be applied in phase I/II clinical trials
