This add is divided in 2 different blocks, the first one is relative to our Ph.D in Economics (1) and the second block refers to our Ph.D on Consumer law (Legal Sciences) (2), which are part of the same call for PhD Students of the University of Perugia.
The PhD in Economics at the University of Perugia is a 3-year full-time program designed for highly motivated and qualified international students who wish to attain first-rate research skills necessary for academia or professional practice in a disciplinary specialisation. At least 6 months are spent abroad as a visiting researcher.
About the Program
The program is structured into three curricula: Economics and Institutions, Economics and Business and Quantitative Methods for Economics.
Our intensive teaching program allows first-year students to acquire a broad set of advanced theoretical and methodological skills, both general and specific to their curriculum. All courses are taught by distinguished Italian and foreign professors of proven teaching and research experience.
Since the program enrols highly qualified students from all over the world and stimulates breadth and a critical mindset, students will learn in international environment and in a lively intellectual atmosphere.
During their second year, students choose their field of specialization within their curriculum, start working intensively on their research project, spend their visiting period abroad and attend regular seminars held by internationally renowned internal and external faculty. Students will benefit from accessing the resources available in the Department, including state-of-the-art data centers fully qualified for quantitative and qualitative research involving multiple research database and software.
The third year is entirely dedicated to finalize their research products, which are expected to attain high international standards and publication potential. Faculty members are highly performing in terms of international publications and are active members of the international academic and research community.
The programme promotes an open dialogue with researchers around the world. Organising high-level conferences and seminars fosters the conversation with the academic community and strengthens the cooperation with a wide institutional network of European and non-European Universities.
About the program
The PhD Program in consumer law (Legal Sciences), as a third level of higher education in which training and research are closely intertwined, aims at promoting the integration of the different fields of law by means of both a specialized and an interdisciplinary approach at the highest level.
The PhD course it concerns consumer rights, which are dealt with in many respects related to civil rights, economic law and commercial law. This is an international doctorate that guarantees the double PhD degree awarded by both the University of Perugia and the Universidad de Salamanca.
Its main objective is appropriately structuring and connecting teaching and research training for Ph.D candidates, with special attention to research methodology and to legal evolution on an increasingly multidimensional and interdisciplinary scale. The program aims at the scientific and professional training of a global jurist who, through the methods and knowledge acquired, is able to adopt a multidisciplinary approach and to critically penetrate various aspects of the manifold legal experience, in order to further deepen, in particular, the issues comprised within the specific fields of the chosen curriculum. In addition to the specific curricular program, the project contemplates developing a set of shared activities (legal methodology, linguistic and computational abilities). The mobility of PhD candidates and professors is assured, in order to promote the internationalization of the PhD Program, also by means of lectures and seminars in English and Spanish. Students are required to stay for at least one year at the Universidad de Salamanca. The lectures are delivered in the Campus of Terni, the second biggest city in Umbria (also known as the "City of Lovers", as its patron saint, Saint Valentine) located at the heart of Nera Valley. Find all the infos about the city here: http://www.turismo.comune.terni.it/en.
The program promotes conferences and seminars with European and overseas scholars, including the annual PhD Summer School (see below), and participates in the organization of the Semaine Doctoral Intensive at SciencesPo, in Paris, which brings together professors and researchers from major universities around the world.
The Università degli Studi di Perugia, founded in 1308, is one of the oldest universities in Italy and one of the most accredited, offering a wide variety of courses in all fields of education. Our goal is to provide students with the finest quality degree programmes and academic opportunities within a stimulating multicultural environment, along with the opportunity to enjoy an excellent lifestyle and foster their personal and academic growth while studying at the highest level.
Nicknamed the “University City,” Perugia boasts a thriving international student scene. Each year, thousands of Italian and international students flock to the city to attend the Università degli Studi di Perugia, the Università per Stranieri di Perugia, and its many studio and performing arts schools. Unlike the more popular tourist destinations, Italian is heard on every street corner and in every shop, making the city a gem for language students seeking a truly immersive experience. Life quality is extremely high in Perugia: it’s located in Umbria, the “Green Heart” of Italy; costs for housing are among the lowest in Italy; eating out is good and affordable. Every night, students gather on the steps of the duomo to eat, drink, and make merry. Studies found that once in Perugia, there is a 99% of chance you wouldn’t want to leave.
