At the Institute of Discrete Mathematics and Geometry, in the Research Unit of Differential Geometry and Geometric Structures TU Wien is offering a position as university assistant (prae-doc) limited to expected 4 years for 30 hours/week. Expected start: September 2024.

Tasks:

  • Supervision of exercise classes and seminars for mathematics students as well as for students on the geometry teacher training program
  • Working on a doctoral thesis in Geometry
  • Deepening your scientific knowledge
  • Assistance/Collaboration in organizational and administrative tasks
  • Participation in scientific events

Your profile:

  • Completion of a master or diploma curriculum in mathematics
  • Experience in the following scientific fields: Differential Geometry (desired, not required)
  • Very good skills in German (desired) and English communication and writing
  • Interest in the research field as well as in supervision and work with students
  • Very good communication skills and team qualities

Entry level salary is determined by the pay grade B1 of the Austrian collective agreement for university staff. This is a minimum of currently EUR 2,684.10/month gross, 14 times/year for 30 hours/week. Relevant working experiences may increase the monthly income.
