Key Responsibilities

Applicants are invited for a Research Engineer in gravity driven membrane. Reporting to the Project Principal Investigator (PI), you will assist in all administration matters including overseeing, planning, forecasting, budgeting as well as ensuring the smooth running of the daily operations for the project

  1. Assists in co-supervision of final year projects (FYP) or capstone projects students or student helpers under the Project PI.
  2. Assist in conducting Computational Fluids Dynamics (CFD) simulations planned for under the scope of work of the projects within the timeframe so as to meet the deliverables.
  3. Assist in experimental setup and carrying out of experiments.
  4. Research work will be carried out mostly at SIT@Dover.
  5. Assists the PI in drafting of reports, conference proceedings and journal articles based on the outcome of the projects.
  6. Prepares and shares fortnightly report of results from the computations with the program director and PI.
  7. Support the procurement and maintenance of the software/hardware under the charge of the PI

Requirements

The candidate should have experience in running CFD RANS (Reynolds Averaged Navier Stokes) and URANS (Unsteady-RANS) simulations. A strong foundation in Fluid dynamics and understanding of fluid (air and water) flow is important. The candidate should also go beyond the point of simulating the test cases, but have the ability to analyze and interpret large data and numerical results so as to propose and suggest experimentation for the next phase of research.

  1. A bachelor's degree in engineering or Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering or related fields majoring in Computational Fluids Dynamics (CFD)
  2. Familiarity with CFD applications working on industrial related projects using high performance computing clusters would also be advantageous
  3. Strong foundation in Fluid Dyanmics
  4. Strong prior experience in CFD – particularly in unsteady aerodynamics
  5. Strong skills in turbulence modelling, CFD mesh generation in complex 3D geometries.
  6. Experience in parallel computing is preferred.
  7. Able to work independently with strong data analytical skills, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  8. Proficient in handling large data sets and the ability to analysis and interpret results
  9. Experience in commercial CFD package such as ANSYS package is preferred. Candidate preferably should be familiar and have sufficient experience in using ANSYS FLUENT, Meshing tool and post-processing software.
