YOUR FUTURE RESPONSIBILITIES

Silicon Austria Labs (SAL) is looking for a Master student for a 6 month contract. This role is generally responsible for the design and implementation of FPGA systems under the guidance of a senior member of staff. This is an ideal position for a recent graduate (or in the process of graduating) who is looking to get into FPGA design.

  • Designing digital circuits using FPGA technology and SoC (e.g. Zynq), including selecting the appropriate FPGA, designing the circuit architecture and coding the logic in a hardware description language (HDL) such as Verilog or VHDL.
  • Verifying the design and functionality of the digital circuits using simulation tools and performing tests on a physical FPGA board.
  • Creating and maintaining documentation for the FPGA design, including schematics, test plans and user manuals
  • Develop and partition digital system architecture
  • Ability to work closely and collaboratively with other SW/HW developers to rapidly deliver integrated systems.

YOUR PROFILE

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
  • At least 1 year of hands-on experience with FPGA systems, acquired through projects, co-ops, or employment.
  • Solid understanding of digital design principles and proficiency in FPGA tools and technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability in designing, coding, testing, and validating FPGAs and/or ASICs.
  • Proficiency in VHDL, Verilog, System Verilog, as well as C or C++.
  • Competency in coding with Python and Matlab.
  • Experience with RTL synthesis, including writing timing, area, and other relevant constraints.
  • Familiarity with digital simulators and adeptness in creating self-checking test benches is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as TCL, Bash, and Shell is beneficial.
  • Knowledgeable in Linux OS is an advantage.
  • Exceptional writing, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Highly motivated, well-organized self-starter.

This position is subject to the Collective Agreement for employees in non-university research (Research CA). For this position, we offer a competitive gross salary of EUR 1.863, paid 14 times a year.
