Full-time tenure-track faculty position in Studio Art

John Cabot University, an accredited American liberal arts university in Rome, Italy, offering four-year degree programs, invites applications for an open-rank (assistant or associate) full-time tenure-track faculty position in Studio Art. The initial appointment is for two years with the possibility of tenure.

We seek candidates with a MFA, or equivalent professional experience, in one or more of the disciplines of Studio Art, experience and demonstrated excellence in teaching, substantial artistic output/exhibition record, and commitment to academic service and program development.

The area of specialization is open. Courses are currently taught in painting, drawing, photography, video, and graphic design. We are particularly interested in applicants who will enable the department to sustain existing disciplines and to expand its range of courses. The successful candidate will be expected to teach three courses per semester at the introductory and advanced undergraduate level, and to be an active member of the university community.

The ideal candidate should have familiarity and experience with the American liberal arts educational tradition, and have had previous administrative responsibilities. Candidates are expected to be fluent in English, which is the language of instruction of the University.

Applicants should send 1) a letter of interest addressing their teaching interests and ability to expand the Studio Art program, 2) a copy of their curriculum vitae; 3) a representative sample portfolio, and 4) evidence of teaching excellence. Materials should be sent as a single pdf file to studioartsearch@johncabot.edu. Three confidential letters of recommendation should be sent separately to the same email address. The deadline to submit applications is January 11, 2019. Only short-listed candidates will be notified.   The position is expected to begin September 1, 2019.
