The Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT- www.iit.it) with headquarters in Genova (Italy) is a non-profit institution with the primary goal of creating and disseminating scientific knowledge and strengthening Italy's technological competitiveness. The IIT Center for Advanced Biomaterials for Healthcare at CRIB (CABHC@CRIB- http://abcnapoli.iit.it/ ), Naples, uses cutting edge and proprietary technologies to engineer biologically inspired materials for applications in the biomedical sector.
We are looking for 1 postdoctoral candidate (two years) with strong experimental experience, who will collaborate in a project on the fabrication and complete characterization of biodegradable polymer microdevices with controlled release of molecules. We seek a highly motivated and creative scientist who will work in a very dynamic and interdisciplinary environment.
Work concerns the development of biodegradable polymer microdevices by exploiting soft lithography methods and advanced mask-less lithography techniques such as 2photon lithography, 2D laser lithography and ICP-RIE. Microdevices will be characterized in terms of encapsulation capability, mechanical properties, kinetic release in in vitro and ex-vivo models.
The ideal candidate should have expertise on the design of 2D and 3D layout and on working in clean room. It should have experience on the fabrication and testing of polymer microdevices. It is also highly wished expertise on the use of 2-photon lithography, ICP-RIE and 2D laser writing will also be taken in great consideration.
Candidates who hold a PhD in Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Physics or related disciplines are encouraged to apply.
The candidate will undertake research activities in laboratories equipped with state-of-the-art technologies including, among others, 2-photon mask-less photolithography, 2D laser mask-less photolithography, ICP-RIE, multiphoton and STED microscopy, SEM, TEM, scanning force microscopy.
