Job description

  • You actively participate in the design, planning and experimental implementation of preclinical (in vitro/in vivo) research and, in a later phase of the project, possibly also early clinical research into new therapeutic strategies for primary liver cancer. In addition to bench work, this research also has a strong translational character.
  • The research should result in a doctorate (PhD) within the planned period (48 months).
  • You are active in a team of various doctoral students, postdoctoral researchers and ZAP members.
  • In addition to the in vitro work (on cell cultures/spheroids/organoids) and in vivo work (in mouse models of liver cancer), the work also includes a 'dry lab' function: analysis of data generated from the human clinical setting.

Job profile

  • You hold a Master’s degree (preferably) in Medicine, Biomedical Sciences or Bioscience Engineering
  • Holder of a certificate in laboratory animal research (category C) is an added value. If this certificate is not available, you must be prepared to obtain it.
  • Knowledge of (bio)statistical analysis techniques; basic programming skills (R and/or Python) are a plus.
  • A willingness to work with both (primary) cell cultures and laboratory animals is a requirement. It forms an added value is you have experience herein.
  • Team player, honest, respectful.

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU

  • We offer a full-time position as a doctoral fellow, consisting of an initial period of 12 months, which - after a positive evaluation, will be extended to a total maximum of 48 months.
  • Your contract will start on 1/10/2024 at the earliest.
  • The fellowship amount is 100% of the net salary of an AAP member in equal family circumstances. The individual fellowship amount is determined by the Department of Personnel and Organization based on family status and seniority. A grant that meets the conditions and criteria of the regulations for doctoral fellowships is considered free of personal income tax. Click here for more information about our salary scales
