Clinical Biostatistician

The ETH Zurich core facility NEXUS Personalized Health Technologies enables discovery and translational research for personalized health. The mission of the Biostatistics Group at NEXUS is to provide expertise in statistics and computational biology to advance biomedical research and clinical applications. We are looking for a

Clinical Biostatistician (50-100%, permanent)

to join our international, multidisciplinary team in Zurich, immediately or by mutual agreement.

Job description

You will be primarily responsible for all aspects in clinical trials related to statistics in collaboration with clients from academia, hospitals, and industry. This includes contribution to study protocols, performing sample size estimations, implementation of randomization schemes, as well as the actual data analysis according to the study protocol and publication of the results.

Specific duties:

  • You will provide expert support in statistical data analysis to our clients in the field of personalized health and translational research including, but not limited to, inference using generalized linear models, survival analysis or probabilistic outcome prediction.
  • Internally, you will participate in the evaluation and implementation of new methods to improve existing workflows.
  • The paradigm of reproducible research is of great importance in our group, therefore the use of software tools like markdown, git, snakemake, and containers will be required for development and sharing.

Profile

We are looking for a motivated and diligent colleague who likes to exchange with others and who is interested in clinical science and translational research.

As a successful candidate you have

  • a PhD in biostatistics or a quantitative science
  • proven experience in clinical trial statistics
  • profound knowledge of experimental design
  • a broad and deep expertise in applied biostatistics
  • strong programming skills in R
  • experience with clinical data management software (secuTrial or REDCap) as a plus
  • excellent communication skills in English; knowledge of German as a plus
