This position is for expat applicants only and will report directly to the Dean, College of Healthcare Technologies.
Position Summary: The position of Preclinical and Clinical Instructor in Restorative Dentistry and Prosthodontics is a full-time Faculty position that involves teaching and mentoring dental technology students in laboratory and clinical facilities. The candidate will be responsible for assuring pre-clinical instruction, including but not limited to aspects of dental technology (including fixed, removable and implant prosthodontics), through the delivery of didactic, simulation clinic and laboratory coursework and the assessment of student learning.
Areas of Accountability: Main Activities:
- Conduct laboratory and clinical instruction in prosthodontics, adhering to the established curriculum and educational objectives of AUIB.
- Provide hands-on guidance and supervision to students during preclinical and laboratory sessions, ensuring proficiency in techniques such as wax-up, master model preparation, metal casting, porcelain application and firing and conventional or digital fabrication of prosthetic restorations.
- Foster a supportive learning environment that encourages student engagement, critical thinking, and professional development.
- Develop and implement innovative teaching methods and instructional materials to enhance student learning outcomes in close coordination with faculty teaching the same courses in theory.
- Collaborate with fellow faculty members to integrate dental technologies and prosthodontic concepts across the dental curriculum, promoting interdisciplinary approaches to patient care.
- Participate in the assessment and evaluation of student performance, including administering examinations, grading assignments, and providing constructive feedback.
- Stay abreast of advancements in dental technology and prosthodontics through continuing education, research, and professional development activities.
- Contribute to the scholarly activities of the institution through research projects, publications, and presentations related to the field of dentistry.
- Engage in service activities within the university community, such as serving on committees, participating in faculty meetings, and supporting institutional initiatives.
Required Education and Experience:
- Master’s degree in Restorative Dentistry and/or Prosthodontics from a reputable college/ university and BDS, DDS, DMD, or highest professional dental qualification and graduate from an accredited dental school
- A minimum of two years of postsecondary teaching experience in a college or university setting.
- Familiarity with preclinical lab material and safety rules.
- Familiarity with the American system of higher education.

- Skilled in dental technologies and prosthodontics.
- The capacity to collaborate and function as a team member with other instructors and teaching assistants.
- Communication skills and demonstration skills for a pre-doctoral audience.
- Strong computer skills and good time management skills.
- Ability to assess students' fine motor skills and progress in this area.
- Willing to work with all students, faculty, and staff in a collegial manner.
- Patient and calm temperament to encourage student development and student confidence as they progress through the pre-clinical curriculum.
- Personable with a positive attitude.
- Adaptable and open to new ideas.
