University of Applied Sciences Wiener Neustadt: Education with its finger on the pulse

Founded in 1994, the University of Applied Sciences Wiener Neustadt (FHWN) is the first of its kind and counts today among the top educational institutions in the state. Currently, about 3600 students are enrolled in a Bachelor or Master programme at one of our campuses: Wiener Neustadt, Wieselburg, Tulln, Rudolfinerhaus Vienna, and the Vienna Study Centre. More than 10000 of our graduates are now pursuing successful careers both in Austria and abroad.

Internationally networked as well as firmly anchored on a regional level, the FHWN provides extensive and future-oriented educational and research programmes. At present, we offer 33 Bachelor and Master programmes in five faculties: Business, Engineering, Health Sciences, Security, and Sport. More than 300 employees and 1300 lecturers provide for a modern and efficient practice-oriented education.

We are acting according to our credo: perspectives through applied learning. Through our practice-oriented educational concept, our graduates are offered a wide range of perspectives for a successful professional career. In the 2015 Universum Talent Research study, the excellent job perspectives were confirmed by our students who voted the FHWN first as the university with the greatest “employability” – the competence to apply the acquired skills directly on the job. 80% of students are very satisfied with the FHWN - the Austrian average of students’ satisfaction in 2016 being 73%, according to the Universum Talent Research study. 95% of students would again choose to study at FHWN.

In addition to a high practical relevance, our focus is on applied research. Our many research labs, functional spaces and seminar rooms are equipped with up-to-date technology guaranteeing a first class education. Furthermore, our engineering and scientific degree programmes in their research- and development projects are supported by FOTEC, the FHWN’s own research company.

FHWN provides an excellent preparation as in addition to theoretical know-how and practice-oriented education, the personal development is of key importance.”

Another main focal point at FHWN is our internationality. With currently 95 partner universities all over the world, our students have many opportunities to spend a semester abroad to further their studies or undertake their internship. At FHWN, interacting and networking with (inter)national partners in business, industry and research provide valuable contacts when launching a professional career.
